This specimen was lot 34052 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Utrecht. Provincial 6 Stuivers 1785 MS62 NGC. A popular type regardless of assignment, but especially so with booming mint brilliance and a soft champagne backlight. From the Coenen Collection." This type, nicknamed the "scheepjesschelling", was struck in silver throughout the eighteenth century. This subtype is listed for 1785-89 and 1794. There is also an extensive series of presentation strikes in gold of double ducat weight but none for 1785.
Recorded mintage: 2,915, a scarce date.
