This type, struck 1853-55 in large quantities, is available in circulated condition. The weight was reduced from 2.67 g to 2.49 g in 1853, along with the other silver coinage, and arrows added 1853-55 to note the change.
Recorded mintage: 12,078,010 (highest mintage of all dimes prior to 1891) plus 95,000 without arrows.
Specification: 2.49 g, 0.900 fine silver, .072 troy oz ASW, 17.9 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Christian Gobrecht.
