Turkey AH 1171(84) 20 para
This specimen was lot 1894 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Mustafa III, 1757-1774, AR 20 para, Islambul, AH1171 year AH[11]88, a pleasing mint state example, PCGS graded MS62, ex Kenneth A. Bovenkamp Collection." In the AH 1180's the mint experimented with dropping the regnal date and substituting an abbreviated AH date instead. This coin has an "۸۴" (84, not 88) at the top of the reverse. This was done to the five para (KM 300.2), ten para (KM 306.2), twenty para (shown here), zolota (KM 316.2), kuruş (KM 321.2), two zolota (KM 324.2), half zeri mahbub (KM 328), zeri mahbub (KM 335), altin (KM 239) and double altin (KM 346). This practice was not repeated in subsequent reigns.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specifications: 18.4-19.9 g, billon.
