This specimen was lot 43564 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. 2 Zolota, AH 1171 Year 82 (1757/8). Istanbul (Islambul) Mint. Mustafa III. NGC MS-65+." This type was struck AH 1180-1182 and has a low catalog value, mostly due to the crude strike and bad alloy. It is scarce in nice condition. A similar double zolota was struck AH 1171-79 with a regnal date (KM 324.1). Turkish issues before the reform of 1839 are a mess of constantly changing denominations as the government attempted to debase its way out of perpetual bankruptcy.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.7-30.1 g, billon.

Catalog reference: Dav-1809 or Dav-326; KM-324.1.
