Goldberg sale 128, lot 2183
G128-2183rev.jpg

This specimen was lot 2183 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "Turkey. Piastre, AH1171/87 (1773). Mustafa III. PCGS graded MS-63." This type was struck years AH 1180-1187 and has a very low catalog value tho it is scarce in nice condition. Turkish issues before the reform of 1839 are a mess of constantly changing denominations as the government attempted to debase its way out of perpetual bankruptcy.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 17.8-19.7 g, silver, likely debased.

Catalog reference: Dav-1811 or Dav-327, KM-321.2.
