This specimen was lot 33791 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic silver Proof Piefort 'Year of the Child' 500 Lira 1979 PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC. Children perform a line dance in the foreground, while a tower-filled city-view resides in the distance on this popular double-thick issue. A very rare type seldom offered at auction, with a near-flawless Proof contrast." The piefort is rare, the regular issue is common. Another 500 lira was issued in 1979 (KM 930) in honor of the F.A.O.
