Turkey 1978 500 lira KM-921

from the Stack's Bowers 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71703

This specimen was lot 71703 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $480. The catalog description^[1] noted, "TURKEY. 500 Lira, 1978. NGC PROOF-65. Struck for the 705th anniversary of the death of Jalaladdin Rumi. A boldly struck and fully lustrous Gem proof." This issue was in honor of the medieval Persian poet. It was accompanied by a silver 200 lira (KM 919) and a gold 1000 lira (KM 923).
