This specimen was lot 71703 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. 500 Lira, 1978. NGC PROOF-65. Struck for the 705th anniversary of the death of Jalaladdin Rumi. A boldly struck and fully lustrous Gem proof." This issue was in honor of the medieval Persian poet. It was accompanied by a silver 200 lira (KM 919) and a gold 1000 lira (KM 923).

Recorded mintage: 900.

Specification: 8 g, 0.917 fine gold.
