These 2½ lira coins (KM 893.1, struck 1960-68, and KM 893.2, issued 1969-80) featured Ataturk striding over the trenches of World War One. This type is listed as expensive in uncirculated; we reserve judgment as stainless steel coins are notoriously difficult to grade. This specimen is from a William Rosenblum mail bid sale (Littleton, CO, November 2012).
Recorded mintage: 4,015,000.
Specification: 12 g, stainless steel, 30 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 893.1.
