This type was struck 1958-68 before inflation rendered it worthless. The spelling on the coin, "5 KURUŞ", is best transliterated into English as "5 kurush", which is how we have spelled it here. It was accompanied by a one and ten kurush, also in bronze. The plant shown on the reverse is oak.
