This type was struck 1963-74 before inflation rendered it worthless. The spelling on the coin, "1 KURUŞ", is best transliterated into English as "1 kurush", which is how we have spelled it here. It was accompanied by a five and ten kurush, also in bronze. A brass version (KM 895) was struck 1961-63. The plant shown on the reverse is olive.
Recorded mintage: 1,180,000.
Specification: 1 g, bronze, 14 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 895a.
