This specimen was lot 25675 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Inonu gold 500 Kurush 1923 Year 23 (1946), AU58 NGC, fully lustrous with typical surface marks on both sides, scarcer type with the bust of Ismet Inonu." Issued 1943-2010 in denominations of 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500 kurush (or kuruş or qirsh) some bore regnal dates and others bear Common Era dates. Most display the portrait of the father of Turkey, Kemal Ataturk; this one bears the portrait of his chief lieutenant, Ismet Inonu.
