This specimen was lot 33921 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 50 Kurush 1947 MS66 NGC. A nearly flawless presentation issue with full details and plenty of golden luster." This type was minted 1943-49 to the standard of the old Ottoman fifty kurush monnaie de luxe. Most of these were minted with the portrait of Ataturk (KM 871) but a few were made with Ismet Inonu's bust, as here.
