Travancore in 1907

This specimen was lot 56423 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Travancore. 8 Cash, ND (1901-10). Birmingham (Heaton) Mint. Rama Varma VI (Under Edward VII as Emperor). PCGS MS-64 Red Brown." This type is common in all grades and was probably equal to a sixth anna. The subsequent type (KM 48) stated "EIGHT CASH" instead of "CASH EIGHT", as here. This example realized eleven times the catalog value.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: copper.

Catalog reference: KM-42.
