Travancore in 1907

This specimen was lot 716 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "TRAVANCORE: Rama Varma VI, 1885-1924, AE cash, ND (1901), denomination CASH 1, traces of original luster, bold XF-AU, RR." Travancore was a princely state on the SW tip of India adjacent to the Madras presidency. One rupee equaled 448 cash. Later cash of Chithira Thirunal Bala Rama Varma II (KM 57) were only 0.48 g. This type is much scarcer than KM 46, the issue usually seen.
