from Künker sale 352, lot 1623

This specimen was lot 1623 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,340 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Dukat 1755, Karlsburg. GOLD. Attraktives Exemplar, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, ducat of 1755, Karlsburg mint. Attractive example, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This ducat was struck in Transylvania 1746-65, during the early part of the reign of Maria Theresia. After the death of her husband, Francis I, in 1765, a veiled bust (Fr-544) was used.
