Jean Elsen sale 150, lot 1475

This specimen was lot 1475 in Jean Elsen sale 150 (Brussels, March 2022), where it sold for €1,000 (about US$1,326 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SAINT EMPIRE, François Ier (1745-1765), AV ducat, 1755CA, Karlsburg. D/ B. l. à d. R/ Aigle impériale couronnée. Très Beau. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis I, 1745-65, gold ducat of 1755, Karlsburg mint. Obverse: laureate bust right; reverse: crowned imperial eagle. Very Fine.)"

This type was produced 1745-65 from Vienna, Hall, Prague, Karlsburg, Graz and Nagybanya and is common. The SCWC does not price any date as rare. The Karlsburg mint was in Transylvania.
