This specimen was lot 73301 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $115. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. 20 Rappen, 1885-B. Bern Mint. PCGS MS-66 Gold Shield. Surpassed in the PCGS census by just one example, this steely gray, fully brilliant Gem minor certainly dazzles the eye and offers great luster." This type was struck 1881-2018 with no change in design. It was converted from nickel to copper-nickel in 1939. The 1885 is not rare but more recent issues, minted in larger quantity and extensively saved, are much cheaper.
Recorded mintage: 3,000,000.
Specification: 4 g, nickel, 21.05 mm diameter.
