This specimen was lot 75784 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. 20 Rappen, 1884-B. Bern Mint. PCGS MS-66." This type was struck 1881-2018 with no change in design. It was converted from nickel to copper-nickel in 1939. The 1884 is the first common date but more recent issues, minted in larger quantity and extensively saved, are much cheaper. The nickel twenty rappen was demonetized in 2004; being magnetic, it interfered with money counting machines.
Recorded mintage: 4,000,000.
Specification: 4 g, nickel, 21.05 mm diameter, plain edge.
Catalog reference: KM-29.
