Sweden 1938-G 50 ore

from Stack's Bowers May 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73350

This specimen was lot 73350 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $660. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 50 Ore, 1938. Stockholm Mint. Gustaf V. NGC PROOFLIKE-66 Cameo. A refreshing prooflike example, this wonderful piece displays a cutting cameo effect, and no traces of spotting or haziness." This type is listed for 1911-19 and 1927-39. The early dates are scarce compared to the later dates.

Recorded mintage: 441,546, a common date.
