This specimen was lot 35375 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $147. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 50 Ore, 1946-TS. NGC PROOF-67. Copper-nickel. Scarce as proof." This nickel bronze type was struck sporadically 1920-24 and 1940-47 when high silver prices prevented the issue of the regular billon type. Similar billon 50 öre pieces were struck 1943-50 (KM 817).
Recorded mintage: 1,425,990.
Specification: nickel-bronze, 22 mm diameter, plain edge.
