Ponterio sale 173, lot 1691
Sweden 1719 riksdaler rev Ponterio 173-1691.jpg

This specimen was lot 1691 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $11,162. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Riksdaler, 1719-LC. PCGS Genuine--Graffiti, Unc Details Secure Holder. Ulrika Eleonora (1719-20). Light scatches in the field in front of bust hardly worth mentioning. Well struck and very attractive." In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = one mark and 48 öre = one riksdaler. This scarce one year type, with the glamourous bust of the queen, has long been expensive.

Recorded mintage: 10,000.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM-370; AAH-4, Dav-1718.
