This specimen was lot 35157 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sweden: Christina Riksdaler 1652 AU53 NGC, Sala and Stockholm mint. An ever-popular issue that always commands interest, depicting the half-length bust of Christina. Decorated in a uniformly pewter patina and champagne undercurrent, with only light instances of wear to the cheek and gown, which remains highly detailed despite the assigned grade. From the Long Island Collection." This type was struck 1641-53 with numerous varieties; some have Roman numeral dates (as here) and later issues have Arabic numeral dates. This is a common date for the type.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a somewhat better date.

Specification: 28.77 g, 0.878 fine silver, .812 troy oz ASW.
