This specimen was lot 1500 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: Victoria, 1867-1901, AR 5 cents, 1883, much better date, Fine." The type was struck in 1871-1901 after the Straits Settlements were made a separate crown colony and this date is scarce. Proofs exist.
Recorded mintage: 80,000, a scarce date.
