This specimen was lot 24951 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $50. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. 5 Cents, 1888. NGC Unc Details--Surface Hairlines. Lustrous and attractive." The type was struck in 1871-1901 and many dates are common but this one is somewhat scarce.
Recorded mintage: 590,000, a better date.
Specification: 1.36 g, 0.800 fine silver, .035 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
