Straits Settlements 1888 10 cents

Stack's Bowers September 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75703

This specimen was lot 75703 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description^[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. 10 Cents, 1888. London Mint. Victoria. NGC Unc Details--Cleaned. Really a decent looking example, both sides are naturally retoned with dove gray patina. While there are some faint hairlines hiding under the tone, this coin presents well with a nice strike and fields free of sizeable marks." This type was struck in 1871-1901 and many dates are common.

Recorded mintage: 1,075,000, a common date.
