This specimen was lot 21902 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $3,737.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria 1/2 Cent 1883, AU58 BN NGC, highly attractive with glossy brown surfaces and traces of original mint red in the legends. Very scarce date and grade." The type was struck in 1872-75 and 1883 and is scarce despite the large mintage. It was converted to bronze for the 1884 issue (KM 8a) and given a reeded edge for the 1889 issue (KM 15) when production for circulation ceased.
