Straits Settlements 1883 10 cents

Sincona sale 20, lot 4241

This specimen was lot 4241 in Sincona sale 20 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 425 (about US$533 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "10 Cents 1883. Gutes sehr schön. (good very fine.)" The type was struck in 1871-1900 and many dates are common, tho this one is scarce.

Recorded mintage: 160,000 plus 610,000 from the Heaton mint (mintmark "H").

Specification: 2.71 g, 0.800 fine silver, .069 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
