This specimen was lot 50281 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $441. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 80 Reales, 1839-SRD. NGC EF-40. De Vellon. Much remaining luster." The type was issued from Barcelona, Seville and Madrid 1837-49. It is the same size as the old two escudos struck in Ferdinand's time.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 21 mm diameter, 6.77 g, .875 fine gold, .190 troy oz AGW.
