This specimen was lot 361 in Aureo y Calicó sale 242 (Barcelona, March 2012), where it sold for 150 € (about US$233 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Isabel II (1833-1868). 1838. Madrid. CL. 1 real. Brillo original. Bella. Escasa así. EBC+. (One real of 1838, Madrid mint, handsome, original luster, choice Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck in Madrid 1837-49 and Seville in 1840; this is a better date.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, .039 troy oz ASW (not 3.38 g as stated in the SCWC), 14.2-14.6 mm diameter,.
