The first specimen was lot 73037 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 2 Maravedis, 1818. Segovia Mint. Ferdinand VII. NGC MS-64 Brown. Laureate Head issue. A choice coin with overall, strong eye appeal." This type was struck in Segovia 1816-20 and 1824-33 (note the aqueduct mintmark) and was accompanied by copper one, four and eight maravedis. The type is not rare but scarce in nice condition.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a fairly common date.
Specification: copper, 3.02 g, 18.5-19.5 mm diameter.
