This specimen was lot 7296 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 8 Reales, 1808-AI. NGC MS-61. Charles IV. Nice toning. Ex: Ponterio & Associates Sale #137 01/2006, Lot #2147." This type is recorded in the SCWC from Madrid for 1788-1808. All are scarce compared to the enormous output of the Latin American mints; 1802 is the most common date. Assayers FA, AI, IG are recorded for 1808. Eight reales with the bust of Ferdinand VII were struck at Seville.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver.
