This specimen was lot 1312 in Jean Elsen sale 121 (Brussels, June 2014), where it sold for €260 (about US$416 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"GRANDE-BRETAGNE, Georges III (1760-1820), AR demi-dollar, s.d. (1797-1799), Emission de nécessité avec petite contremarque ovale. Sur une 4 reales 1777 de Séville. Contremarque: Très Beau. Beau. (Great Britain, George III (1760-120), silver half dollar without date, emergency coinage with oval countermark, on a 1777 four reales from Seville. Countermark very fine, coin fine.)"

This type was struck in Madrid and Seville (shown here) 1772-88. Tho priced fairly cheaply in the SCWC, this type is very difficult to find at U. S. coin shows. This specimen bears a British counterstamp for circulation there. The SCWC notes that only eight reales were authorized to be counterstamped so it is likely that the stamp was applied later to fabricate a fantasy for sale to collectors.
