This specimen was lot 32741 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. Cob 8 Reales, ND (1556-98). Valladolid Mint. Philip II. NGC AU-53. An impressive survivor from this RARE Spanish mint, exhibiting the light strike weakness typically apparent on these crude hammered cob issues, but with essentially all central detail intact, including a bold mintmark and denomination." This variety has the mintmark with three banners and the value written as "VIII". Other Valladolid eight reales come with four banners and the value written as "8". Valladolid eight reales are dated after 1590.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
