This specimen was lot 23033 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $152.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTH AFRICA. 1/4 Penny, 1930. NGC AU-58 BN. Extremely deep coffee bean color; a premium quality example, especially for the assigned grade. Ex: The Kleynhans Collection." The farthings of George V were minted 1923-36 with this subtype struck 1925-31. This is a very scarce date, verging on rare.
