Silesia 1669-SHS 3 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 70195 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Breslau. 3 Kreuzer, 1669-SHS. Vienna Mint. Leopold I (1657-1705). PCGS MS-65 Secure Holder. WINGS Approved. KM-1169. Sharply struck and lustrous. Medium gray toning with hints of color." The normally reliable auction catalog description correctly states that this is a Breslau issue but then incorrectly attributes it to the Vienna mint and assigns it the wrong catalog number. This type was struck 1665-98 for circulation in Silesia, then an Austrian province.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 1.59 g, silver, 21 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-471 (listed under Silesia).
