Silesia-Liegnitz-Brieg 1670-CB 3 kreuzer

This specimen was lot 2857 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it sold for $66. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SILESIA-LIEGNITZ-BRIEG: Christian, in Brieg, 1664-1672, AR 3 kreuzer, 1670, initials CB, a few minor flan striations and one reverse flan flaw, struck with roller dies, Choice EF." Silesia is considered a German State even tho the province was then under Austrian rule and is now in Poland. This type, listed for 1668-70 only, is not listed as expensive. The coinage ceased when the last of the local dukes died in 1675. During his reign, the three kreuzer was one-fortieth of a thaler.
