Saxony 1910-E 10 mark
This specimen was lot 24094 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Saxony. Friedrich August III gold Proof 10 Mark 1910-E, Proof 64 Ultra Cameo NGC, a most handsome coin with mirror fields and a frosty cameo bust. Rare and desirable in this elite designation." This type was minted 1905-12 in respectable numbers and is priced about fifty percent higher than a common ten mark from Baden or Prussia. The Muldenhutten mint, after striking coins for the Saxon kings, later minted for the Weimar republic, the Nazis and the Communists before closing in 1953.
