Stack'S Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 3749

This specimen was lot 3749 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $217.38. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. Taler, 1858-F. NGC MS-63. Dappled old envelope toning on both sides with underlying luster. From the Rockaway Collection." This regular vereinsthaler of 1857-59 is common. For 1858, it was accompanied by two different mining thalers (Dav-891 and -892).

Recorded mintage: 200,000.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver, 33 mm diameter, lettered edge.
