Ponterio sale 169, lot 10308

This specimen was lot 10308 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $382. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. Taler, 1858. NGC MS-61. Toned." This type was struck 1857-58 and is rather scarce compared to Frankfurt thalers of the 1860's. The 1858 is more common than the 1857.

Recorded mintage: 12,000.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver.
