This specimen was lot 735 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $7,343.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. Taler, 1806-SGH. NGC MS-65. Sharply struck giving nearly prooflike surfaces to the fields, while the devices retain a muted luster giving a cameo appearance. Lighter tan toning on obverse with a few darker areas near periphery, reverse more deeply toned with some blue hues appearing. The finest certified example of this large bust one year type. From the Rockaway Collection." A rare one year type.
