This specimen was lot 29536 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Saxony. Friedrich August III Taler 1799-IEC MS66 PCGS. A classic example with icy-white surfaces that exhibit faint champagne accents throughout. Exceptional, razor-sharp details are frosty in nature and are the result of an exacting strike. A visually stunning specimen, currently unrivaled in this superior quality." This type is listed for 1793-1806 and is accompanied by a mining thaler (Dav-2703).
