Saxony 1727-IGS 1/3 thaler
This specimen was lot 1222 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €810 (about US$1,092 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich August I. 1694-1733 (August der Starke). 1/3 Taler 1727, Dresden, auf den Tod seiner Gemahlin Christine Eberhardine von Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus I (the Strong), 1694-1733, one-third thaler of 1727, Dresden mint, on the death of his wife Christine Eberhardine von Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Extremely fine.)"
This commemorative was accompanied by a 1/6 thaler (KM 856), 2/3 thaler (KM 858) and thaler (KM 859).
