This specimen was part of lot 22621 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $345. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lot of Six German States Coins, ...Saxe-Meiningen Taler 1866.... Coins range in grade from VF to AU." Saxe-Meiningen is now part of Thuringia. This type, struck 1859-67, is fairly unusual but the harsh cleaning on this specimen relegated it to this bulk lot.
