Nassau 1864 thaler rev Heritage 3010-22620.jpg

This specimen was part of lot 22620 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $431.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mixed Lot of Thirteen Coins. We have here a very useful grouping of coins from German East Africa as well as coins from Bavaria, Bremen, Hessen, Trier, and more. Grades range from Fine to UNC." Nassau lies in the Rhine valley of central Germany. This type is fairly unusual but the harsh cleaning on this specimen relegated it to this bulk lot.

Recorded mintage: 6,162.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 80 (formerly KM C64), Dav-750.
