Steve Album Auction 53, lot 826

This specimen was lot 826 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAXE-MEININGEN: Bernard II, 1803-1866, AR vereinsthaler, 1859, scarce, first year of type, sapphire-blue outer edge toning transitioning to light champagne fields, a well stuck wonderful lustrous mint state example, PCGS graded MS64, ex Joe Sedillot Collection. Finest graded 'top pop' by PCGS!" Saxe-Meiningen is now part of Thuringia. This type, struck 1859-67, is fairly unusual.

Recorded mintage: 39,864.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver, 33 mm diameter, .535 troy oz ASW, lettered edge.
