This specimen was lot 30808 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,351.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sardinia. Carlo Emanuele III gold 1/2 Doppia 1772, XF45 NGC. A few minor deposits left in the legend, but overall, this is an attractive piece with even wear and no notable blemishes." This type was struck steadily 1755-72 along with a gold doppia (KM C31) but all dates are scarce. In other parts of Italy, a doppia was a double ducat but in Sardinia a doppia was a double scudo, hence the different weight standard.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 4.76 g, .905 fine gold, .138 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM-C30, Fr-1106.
