This specimen was lot 6071 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Salzburg. 1/2 Taler, 1687. Archbishop Johann Ernst Graf von Thun und Hohenstein (1687-1709). NGC MS-65. A remarkably well preserved piece with exceptional detail down to the textures in the arms and robes of the bishops. Highly lustrous metal showing original luster throughout with delicate cabinet toning throughout. Aquamarine hues in periphery leading to golden orange and blue hues in centers. Small short planchet crack at six o'clock noted solely for accuracy. A very desirable example which exhibits no signs of contact or mishandling." This type is listed for 1687, 1694-1709 and is priced the same as the thaler.
