Sincona sale 33, lot 3174

This specimen was lot 3174 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Salzburg, Erzbistum. Max Gandolph von Küenburg, 1668-1687 5 Dukaten 1668. Vorzüglich. Kl. Kratzer. (Germany, archbishopric of Salzburg, Maximilian Gandolph von Küenburg, 1668-87, five ducats of 1668. Extremely fine, Minor scratches.)"

The archbishop issued a bewildering array of gold coins ranging a quarter ducat to fifty ducats. Most of the larger ones (including a 10 ducat) were struck for presentation and are rare.
