This specimen was lot 33755 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russian Federation gold Proof 'Dimitri G. Levitsky' 50 Roubles 1994-(M) PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC, Moscow mint. A gorgeous striking and design in rose-gold, demonstrating highly reflective surfaces and a sharp cameo." This NCLT honoring painter Dmitry Levitzky (1735-1822) was issued by the post-Communist regime. The fall of Communism did not alleviate the desperate shortage of foreign exchange.
