This specimen was lot 8178 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 25 Rubles, 1994. Grade: CHOICE UNCIRCULATED. Featuring the Baikal Railroad Tunnel. A brilliant Proof with reflective fields and frosty raised devices." This tunnel was an essential piece of the Trans-Siberian Railroad, which opened in 1894.
Recorded mintage: 3,000 proofs.
Specification: 4.31 g, 0.900 fine gold, 0.125 troy oz AGW.
